Q: Will anyone besides Manuscript Mentoring see my work?
Q: Does any part of my intellectual property transfer to Manuscript Mentoring when I use any of the company’s services?
A: No, your work stays your work. We offer editing and proofreading services in exchange for a set fee; nothing more. You shouldn’t make use of any editing/proofreading firm that requires the transfer of intellectual property.
Q: Do you offer full refunds?
A: Yes, but only for orders that have not been delivered yet. Please have a look at our Refund Policy for more information.
Q: Is Manuscript Mentoring affiliated with a publishing house?
A: No, Manuscript Mentoring is not affiliated with any publishing house.
Q: Are Manuscript Mentoring’s emails end-to-end encrypted?
Q: My file is too large to send as an email attachment. Is there another way to send it?
A: Yes. We use the Dropbox and Sync platforms as alternative methods.
Q: Can you edit Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files?
A: Yes. However, if the file contains complex formatting elements, then the project may take slightly longer to complete.
Q: What file types can you edit?
A: We can edit DOC, DOCX, DOCM, RTF, PDF, ODT, and FODT file types. However, we cannot edit files formatted in Apple’s PAGES extension.
Q: If I contact Manuscript Mentoring, when can I expect a reply?
A: We reply to queries and orders as soon as possible, but please allow up to one business day for a response.
Q: How do clients pay?
A: A PayPal invoice is sent to your email address after you place your order. Please note that you do not need to have a PayPal account to complete payment—the platform also accepts credit and debit cards. Q: How long does it take for Manuscript Mentoring to complete a proofreading order?
A: 24 hours for every 10,000 words. For example, 20,000 words requires 48 hours to complete.
Q: How long does it take for Manuscript Mentoring to edit and suggest changes to a developmental editing order?
A: 24 hours for every 4000 words. For example, 8000 words requires 48 hours to complete.
Q: For how long are orders valid for?
A: An order is valid for 6 months after payment has been received.
Q: Is there a minimum word count for orders?
A: Yes, our minimum is 1000 (one thousand) words per order.
Q: Do you offer free test edits?
A: No, unfortunately not.
Q: After making a purchase, do I have to submit all of the material at once?
A: Not at all! You can send your work piecemeal or in bulk—whichever suits you best.
Q: Do you ghostwrite?
A: No, we do not write books from scratch as a service.
Q: Are there any genres that you are not willing to mentor?
A: We mentor all genres except erotica.
Q: Do you mentor only fiction?
A: No, we mentor writers of both fiction and nonfiction.
